This is the second excerpt of “One Boy’s Struggle: A Memoir: Surviving life with undiagnosed ADD”

This excerpt is a paragraph from my forthcoming book © “One Boy’s Struggle…”

“Now that I am able to identify why I do certain things, I make an effort to modify my behavior and consider more how I treat other people. I don´t expect to be perfect in all social situations overnight; I want to at least try to seem less rude and inconsiderate. Previously, in many social situations I would get impatient and often just leave without saying a word if the conversation was not interesting to me. Occasionally, when I was out with friends and grew tired of what we were doing, I would make some excuse, or no excuse, and leave. That type of behavior was rude and I can see how a person could take it personally. Knowing why I do it and being able to predict such behavior gives me the chance to act differently. I remind myself that I am about to be impulsive, and I take a few deep breaths and explain to whoever I am with that I am not completely interested in the topic. Sometimes I make an extra effort to refocus and seem interested. Taking long, deep breaths to clear my mind often helps. Once I reach a quiet and calm state, I start to ask questions and get more involved in the conversation or activity. My goal is to relate better with others and to improve the relationships I have.”

Over the course of the next few months, as we come closer to publication, I will post more paragraph excerpts from “One Boy’s Struggle…”

I agree with David… BIG-HUGE problem staying interested in what people say…. So much stuff to process and I get soooo bored. I twist, turn, play with my phone, go to the little girls room… etc… can’t wait to read your memoir!

Thank you for creating such a wonderful, interesting, insightful BLUSH BLOG about the truth and not a bunch of BS!!!!
