ADHD Healing with Forgiveness, Acceptance and Kind Friends

What I enjoy most about our ADDer World ADD & ADHD Community website is the healing that takes place between us and the connections we create together. The mission of the ADDer World Community website is to be a place of positive reinforcement and healing through the sharing of our experiences and stories. It warms my heart to see posts where people may at first misunderstand each other, but amidst any frustration and confusion they work at creating relationships of discovery, understanding and supporting each other. Often it is through forgiveness of self and others, and sometimes it is through acceptance of self, being accepted and the acceptance from others.

I want to personally thank the exceptional community we have and what we are creating together, for each other. We have the most wonderful, supportive and caring members in the world. Together we lean on each other, comfort each other and find kind words to say, even if they are not always the perfect words. On ADDer World, people matter, our intentions matter and ADD & ADHD matters.

You can help spread the word about our wonderful community by sharing this blog post / message! Sending invites and telling friends are great ways to spread the word too.

This is ADDer World, our ADHD Social Network:

ADDer World is a positive, supportive place for us to come together and talk about the challenges and inspirations of ADHD. Here we can share our experiences and help motivate each other to be the best we can be every day. We are dynamic, vibrant, creative, and unique. And yet at times, we painfully struggle with our ADHD.

Join us and share your thoughts with us. We can succeed together in reaching our true potential, learning from each other to move forward, and to guide each other toward positive goals. We are not alone.

Everyone is welcome who has ADHD, who is living with someone who has ADHD, who knows someone who has ADHD or is just interested in learning more about ADHD.

I believe ADDer World members are part of the solution to living better lives with ADHD and so can you!

Hello Bryan! As you know, I am a member. And I think this post is important and what you have said is true! One of the important things you point out in this post is Everyone is Welcome! Even they just want to learn about ADHD.

ADHDers are not all the same, and may have different opinions and such, but we all do have something in common I think. A need to show how we feel about ourselves, and see how others feel about themselves. It may surprise us to see how much we feel the same about many things.

Do you remember how skeptical(judgemental) I was the first time visited? I later dedicated a post on my own blog to show how wrong I was about you and how I almost missed out on a Treasure that was offered to me. http://addmsorboth.blogspot.com/2010/01/hidden-treasures-right-in-front.html

Thanks Bryan for being here for Us!

You nailed it Bryan. Compassion, forgiveness, and becoming your own best friend instead of your worst critic are essential to healing the wounds of the past and moving on to a future that accepts and embraces ALL of who you are – your brilliant strengths, your “flaws” and your ADHD.

Thanks for building such an great resource for people whose lives are touched by ADHD! You are an inspiration!

This site is without a doubt the main source of support for me in dealing with my ADD, and it will remain so. I just hope that I have given enough support, encouragement, and contribution to this community in return, because I feel that I didn’t give those as much as I want. There are some blogs to which I would like to reply, but somehow it got delayed until I ended up not doing it. But I will keep giving my support the best I can.

Thank you, Bryan, for all your effort and your continous support for us.

Your post stayed with me long after I read it, because I was processing WHY I so appreciate this forum.

As ADHDers, we have available to us many types of resources for learning to “get our lives together” and become “successful” despite (or because of) our ADHD. We have CBT and medications available as well. But this is the only forum of which I am aware that focuses as much on healing and emotion (the emotion so many of us feel safe enough to express in our posts). Beginning to address and heal the emotional aspects that accompany my ADHD has been critical to my wholeness as a human being.

I think the topic of the emotions and ADHD is too often neglected, even if some people may think we’re not supposed to talk about emotions or that they don’t matter in the context of ADHD.

Thank you for providing us with a forum where we can express our emotions, those things that make us completely unique beings.

Beautiful post, Bryan- only wishing you’d had a chance to elaborate on it even further. Your thoughts are great gifts, even if I sometimes misunderstand.

Thank you so much Bryan for creating this community and continuing to write such inspirational, motivating, and positive blogs. It’s such a wonderful part of my support; it feels so uplifting that I have a place where I won’t be judged for saying or doing something dumb. That everybody here will laugh with me (instead of at me) and can TOTALLY relate!

Because of how this community interacts I’ve entertained the thought of putting together a group that can meet bi-weekly/monthly but it’s an overwhelming idea to me as of yet. I’ve only found one therapist in my city that specializes in adult ADHD therapy; in a city of 700,000 that is shockingly unbelievable to me.

Without support and reinforcement how else will we experience positive thinking and be able to leave the negative behind?
