Good points! I have discovered that many of us with ADHD tend to make promises believing that will help us remember things and be more reliable. Actually, making promises and not keeping them only worsens situations and trust. I wrote an article recently dealing with ADHD and crediblity, and it makes your point, I think, but I don't promis that it does :-)

Well, there are many of us who have fallen in love, not with "someone with ADHD", but with a real, exciting, imaginative, funny, charming and REAL person. From a female perspective, we don't want someone who wants us to hang on their arm for show, or listen to them talk about all their accomplishments, or try to get in bed before their next alarm clock goes off.

But ADHD does help us understand why the ADHDer can so quickly appear to fall in love, make all kinds of promises, and then send the e-mail that they simply can't be in a relationship without giving any reason. And it helps heal the hurt when the promises aren't kept. Please tell your ADHD guys that most of us are adept at understanding - not trying to "fix" things, particularly if we truly love you for who you are - you don't need fixing! But encourage your guys to button the lip when it comes to promises, and to not be afraid of the real thing when it comes. One step at a time. Even the credit bureaus are willing to work with their customers - and they aren't even in love!!!
