Positive Adder Quote of the Week – Simon Cowell

Positive Adder Quote of the Week – Simon Cowell

“If you’ve got a big mouth and you’re controversial, you’re going to get attention.” Simon Cowell This week’s positive ADDer quote of the week goes to the one and only, American Idol’s, Simon Cowell! Simon Cowell? Well let’s see, my research shows that he was wild as a child, dropped out of high school at the age of 16. He started out with some mediocre jobs, but didn’t get along well with his co-workers and bosses.  Eventually his dad had to give him a job. Being Simon, he wanted more, so he tried his own company and it didn’t work out and at the age of 30 he had to move back in with his parents! I can just imagine his father shaking his head at this point.

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love Part 3

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love Part 3

Good day everyone! I received a few emails from these last few articles concerning relationships and it was asked that I give more details and give clearer explanations of the ‘signs’ that I missed. I am going to try and do that a bit here in today’s post. But first let me explain a bit about what I am trying to do with my blog and writing about my life with Attention Deficit Disorder. It is my attempt to help others by writing openly about my experiences and allowing you to take from my writing what you will. Unfortunately, there are no clear and perfect 1, 2, 3 steps you can follow and be cured. ADD ADHD is amazing like that – the more we read about it, learn about it and share our experiences, the better we understand and the better we can cope. My experiences, the articles written […]

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love Part 2

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love Part 2

This is the continuation of yesterday’s article, if you haven’t read it, please do. It is the article right below this one… She liked me a lot. She wanted a relationship. She wanted to be my girlfriend and she wanted me to be her boyfriend and I never picked up on that. Partly it is because I had low self-esteem and could not believe she would want me and the other part is because I did not recognize the signs. Sure, I have written them out here and it may seem obvious, but I am writing from hindsight and I didn’t have that benefit back then. Now, with 18 or so years, it’s all so clear.

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love

ADD ADHD affected my relationships and finding love

It sure did, I don’t doubt it one bit. I remember a very beautiful brunette young lady I was dating back in, oh 1989. She was intelligent, funny and absolutely gorgeous. She liked me. I didn’t know it and I blew it. The worst part of this story, the devastating reality, will be the fact I was oblivious to the fondness this girl had for me. Thinking about it right now, I still feel like an imbecile. I know I shouldn’t, but no matter how much I learn about Attention Deficit Disorder I still feel like I should have recognized the signs. I mean really—it’s just so obvious looking back on those days. It’s no wonder that many people with ADD or ADHD complain of and seem to have post traumatic stress syndrome! We remember and rehash mistakes constantly—it’s painful, it hurts, it is absolutely agonizing, especially those memories which […]

Finding Love

Finding Love

Finding, Falling and Staying in love  Part 1 Finding Love Searching for love is exhilarating, fun and a reason to visit the bright lights of the city at night and mingle, but it can also be frightening when we feel we are constantly rejected and if and when much time passes with no success and an abundance of rejection, it can become a dreadful and disheartening struggle. Often we go out with a smile on our face and tell ourselves we are just going to have fun and it just doesn’t matter if we are not approached or if an offer for a drink or to dance is turned down. Right, we don’t care, we are just out having fun after all. Negative feedback is negative feedback and no matter how we prepare ourselves, the negativity of rejection is felt. Not only ‘skin deep’ and our emotions react. Continuously repeating […]

This is the fourth excerpt of “One Boy’s Struggle: A Memoir: Surviving life with undiagnosed ADD”

This is the fourth excerpt of “One Boy’s Struggle: A Memoir: Surviving life with undiagnosed ADD”

This excerpt is a paragraph from my forthcoming book © “One Boy’s Struggle…” The excerpts I am posting are short paragraphs which I think will give you a good idea of what you will read and discover in my Memoir. This particular paragraph mentions the Law of Attraction, which I consider very important for any Adder. Although I explain in detail within the book itself, it is important to note that the majority of people with ADD ADHD have difficulty forecasting the future or planning or ‘seeing’ what the results of their work will bring and is a major reason Adders have difficulty accomplishing most everything that does not have immediate results. The Law of Attraction has helped me significantly in this area and has become a very important tool I use daily and I believe, from my experiences, this can help anyone with or without ADD ADHD, but most […]

White noise and instrumental music helps my ADD ADHD mind function and other helpful stuff

Recently I was asked how I manage to write articles on a regular basis for my Blog and even write a couple books at the same time – not to mention I have a full time job. I have a couple answers for that. Obviously, I have a lot of determination, but many Adders have a lot of determination and still can’t seem to get things done. Getting things done, for us, can be very unpredictable to say the least. However, there are ways to get ‘r done! So how do I do it?

Educators I salute you!

Educators I salute you!

Yep, you read that right. I don’t know how many times I have taken educators to task for how ADD ADHD children are treated and taught. Many, many times. Don’t get me wrong, I mean every word and I don’t plan on letting up anytime soon. However, let’s get something straight and be very clear about it: Educating today’s children, with today’s society and over filled classrooms, teaching is not an easy job and sometimes it is a thankless job. Educators are probably the most criticized people in existence. Yep, even more than us Adders and let me tell you, that’s a lot of criticizing! You know it, I know it, it’s not some sort of secret.

Positive Adder Quote of the Week – David Neeleman

Positive Adder Quote of the Week – David Neeleman

“In the midst of all the chaos swirling through your brain, all the disorganization and impulsiveness, this condition (ADD) also seems to trigger a certain kind of creativity.” David Neeleman David G. Neeleman — chairman and CEO of JetBlue Airways has Attention Deficit Disorder and he has made it no secret. As a matter of fact, this man is a role model of what ADD ADHD can be for a person. I have often said ADD ADHD can be a gift and reading about David really brings home how true this statement really is! David G. Neeleman is the chairman and CEO of JetBlue, yes, but let’s not forget that this man is the father and supporter of 9 children! That’s right 9 children!
