The Tale of an ADD ADHD Memoir

The Tale of an ADD ADHD Memoir

This is a very special tale: It was the worst of times and the best of times Read about the real life, first hand story of a boy who went through childhood, and most of his adult life, undiagnosed with ADD ADHD. This is a remarkable opportunity for the ADD ADHD community and society. All that we ADDers ask for is understanding, consideration and acceptance, -ADD ADHD is real, it is affecting our children, our friends, our neighbors, it is affecting you and me, it is causing distress and turmoil and sorrow, and it does not have to be that way – it really doesn’t. ADD ADHD is a different way of thinking and in many of today’s typical settings it is a significant challenge which creates detrimental consequences. Treated and nurtured, ADD ADHD can be a wonderful and truly amazing gift.

An Unexpected Email about a Marriage in Peril

An Unexpected Email about a Marriage in Peril

The other day I received an absolutely wonderful email from a nice young lady who has been suffering, what she called, a disaster of a marriage! She read my memoir in a single evening and felt that her husband must read it. She says she had to promise him a reward vacation in order to get him to read it, but that once he started he could not put it down. To her surprise he came to her a day later and apologized for his behavior and then went even further and finally agreed to seek marriage counseling with her and furthermore, he said he didn’t want the reward of their dream vacation until he was a better husband! My gosh, that was such a beautiful email to read and since my ultimate goal was to at least help 1 person, I guess I am done here. Okay, I am […]

ADD ADHD and Me and Life and Love and Hope and Tragedy and Diagnosis

ADD ADHD and Me and Life and Love and Hope and Tragedy and Diagnosis

Paragraph from page 136 of “One Boy’s Struggle: A Memoir“: For many people who suffer from the symptoms of ADD, diagnosis and treatment bring them some relief and understanding. When I was first diagnosed with ADD, I was skeptical. However, once I began to learn about ADD/HD, I began to agree with the diagnosis. As I gained more knowledge about the disorder from my doctor and my own research, a remarkable feeling came over me and I started to feel better about myself. I felt myself breathe a long, deep sigh of relief. Finally, I had an explanation for my ways! For so long l felt misunderstood and blamed myself for my innate traits, and I don’t feel so alone in the world anymore. It was an enlightening experience for me. Finding out I have ADD gave me a clearer sense of direction, as though I had been wandering in […]

The Relevance of an ADD ADHD Memoir – What it is for you

The Relevance of an ADD ADHD Memoir – What it is for you

“”ADD ADHD is unique in that, the more one knows and learns about the disorder the better one can cope, overcome, and be successful. Learning as much as possible is imperative, especially for adult ADDers. Nearly every resource I have ever read concerning ADD and ADHD recommends learning as much as possible about the disorder.”” Doctors, parents, and therapists, and even teachers have given their input and all of such input is valuable, but strangely there are not very many books available written by ADDers for ADDers. Actually, my Memoir is one of the first, if not the first Memoir to be published about someone who grew up with undiagnosed ADD. The raw reality, the actual insider view of what it is like for someone with ADD to experience day to day life and yet not know he has ADD. To learn what went on inside the ADD mind which […]
