The Disorganized Mind: Coaching Your ADHD Brain to Take Control of Your Time, Tasks, and Talents – By Nancy Ratey. An ADDer Review

It is about time that books for Adults with ADHD start becoming popular and not just popular, but relatively main stream. It’s estimated that 9 million people in the U.S. have ADHD in one form or another. That’s just what is estimated and the reality could be that several people you know personally have ADHD; it is probably more common than we realize. The fact is, and Nancy’s  book will prove it, is that real life skills (not the medications) utilized to combat the symptoms of ADHD work for just about anyone whether they have ADHD or not, actually, skills for ADHD can make people’s lives without ADHD even better, more efficient. That’s what I believe.  In today’s world the term ADHD stands for a neurobiological disorder called Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Personally, I don’t think ADHD is anything new and I do believe it has always been a part […]

Book Marketing for Authors of Related Books

Book Marketing for Authors of Related Books

How many books do you read a year? I read somewhere between 20 -30 and more than half usually have a close relationship in terms of what they are about. When I am trying to learn about something I can never seem to get enough information and sometimes there just doesn’t seem to be enough information in print. Hard to believe, but it’s true. Here’s the last string of books I read and thoroughly enjoyed. I want more of the same to continue this string: The Google Story – David A. Vise Good to Great – Jim Collins How Dell Does it – Steven Holzner Small is the new big – Seth Godin The Apple Way – Jeffrey L. Cruikshank Freakonomics – Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner DisneyWar – James B. Stewart Up Till Now – William Shatner I would not mind reading and actually would like to […]

(click the image for your copy) Finally, after so much, the manifestation of my life’s story is here, it is in print, it is published and I hope and believe what I have written will help people across the world in a new enlightening way. This is my story, my memories, the good, the bad, the ugly and the wonderful, the successes and the reality that there is more and we can all find it within each of us. This is the story of what I went through and the people around me were subjected to and reacted to. This is the story of a boy who was lost, all over the place, struggled with school, with friends and just about everything, but with all the struggles, there was always something special within and for many reasons I found that something special and […]

If Stephen Colbert can do it, well then SO CAN I!

If Stephen Colbert can do it, well then SO CAN I!

No, no calm down… cool your heals and don’t worry about it so much. Steven has been denied the right to run for president. Yep, that’s right—we all knew he would win. C’mon, that’s no secret. Why would he win? Because he is funny, but what is more curious is that he says things the way they are! And, that my friends, is very funny! And it’s uniquely refreshing. Like Cool Aid, or Doritos—you pick. The question we should be asking is why did Colbert decide to run for president? To make a mockery of it? To challenge the front runners? To be a contender? Nah, I think he did it to sell his book and in order to sell his book to Adders (as I know this was his intention-yep) he had to be extraordinary and entertaining and well, run for president! It worked! His book is number 1 […]

Stephen King’s – The Stand – First book I ever read start to finish

Stephen King’s – The Stand – First book I ever read start to finish

As a youth in school I was assigned books to read, just like everyone else and probably some of the same books as you, but I was never able to read any of those books through to completion. I skimmed them and when I didn’t find anything of interest I put them away. As you can surmise, I did not fare well on book reports! However, as I got older into my late teens I found myself spending a lot of time sitting around being bored. I have the non-hyperactive type of ADD, so I wasn’t always in the mood to seek a thrill. Often I would just sit around in the late afternoons staring out of the window daydreaming or just thinking things. I didn’t have too many friends and when the friends I did have were busy or didn’t have time, I just sat around at home doing nothing […]

My Top Ten Books List

My Top Ten Books List

Many of you have written me asking which books I have found to be the most helpful in dealing with my ADD ADHD. And some of you have been extremely surprised when I respond and give up my list. The usual response is the question “Why not more ADD ADHD specific books?” –The answer is simple: I haven’t read too many ADD ADHD books which I have found to be useful, not yet anyway and to be quite honest, I haven’t really read that many or I have started and never picked them up again and it’s usually because I simply can’t get through them. I have only read 1 ADD ADHD book from cover to cover and it is listed here. I learn best from stories, life stories and experiences and I suspect this is the same for most of us Adders and that’s the reason I wrote my […]
