Top 10 Reasons You do Not Have ADHD!

Top 10 Reasons You do Not Have ADHD!

Do you really have ADHD? What if your family and friends disagree? Family and Friends sometimes Rebel against the ADHD Label and Why… It is not uncommon for family and friends to rebel against the ADHD label. It is a sad but true reality for many with ADHD. Adults can decide for themselves regardless of what their family believes, but children must live with whatever decision parents make regarding the diagnosis and that decision can last for a lifetime with the repercussions thereof. First thing for parents, siblings and friends to realize is that it isn’t against you and it isn’t necessarily about you. A valid diagnosis is very important and can be a way to a better future with treatment, consideration and yes, a bit of compassion. Holding the diagnosis against anyone isn’t fair and it certainly isn’t helpful. If you really want to help a family member recently […]

How to make magic happen for you today!

How to make magic happen for you today!

Sometimes we go day to day just going through the motions and before we know it we go a week just going through the motions and then a month and on and on. Once today has passed us, it is in the past and will never come back. What can you do today that you can enjoy? What can you do today to make it memorable? What can you do today to make someone else smile? What can you do today to make yourself smile? Today is important, today is a part of your legacy and once it is in the past, you will only have your memories and those memories create your perspectives both positive and negative. Do you want to smile tomorrow? Do something to smile about today. Stand in front of a mirror and just smile at yourself, set that smile and walk with it. Smiling is […]

A Weekend in Paris

A Weekend in Paris

Joan and I had a wonderful weekend in Paris…   This was our first trip to Paris and I must admit we were a bit overwhelmed. Paris is rich with history and there is simply so much that it is impossible to take it all in. It is amazing to see so many things which are instantly recognizable thanks to movies and our history books. It’s funny how movies come to mind when we are surrounded by history centuries old, but that’s how most of us recognize much of the world’s treasures. The reality of viewing such history up close and in person is simply remarkable and intoxicating! Here are some more photos of out trip:

Our enjoyable stroll through Amsterdam

Our enjoyable stroll through Amsterdam

Joan and I spent a wonderful clear day in Amsterdam on Saturday. We had a great time and were relieved to have such splendid weather. The day before, while we were in Utrecht, it had rained the entire day. Saturday started out a little drizzly too, but by the time we reached Amsterdam the weather had cleared and the sun was breaking from the clouds.     Joan is an art history buff and the museums are always on our agenda. We have visited Amsterdam several times in the past because my family, on my mother’s side, is from Holland. This time, though, other than the Van Gogh museum we didn’t really have any other plans and spent the day walking through the city. It was great because we got to see several sites we usually do not come across.     One of those sites was “The American Bookstore”. It […]

Passion is me and my ADHD

Passion is me and my ADHD

I love to be passionate It fills me with hope and vigor for life. I like to see nice things, listen to good people and be around those who care for others in a genuine way. Passion is fruitful, passion brings us hope and passion is the nature by which things are created. I have passion running through my veins I like to walk outside in the open air and allow my mind to wander wherever it chooses to go. I love to imagine grand things and get caught up in dreams which feed my desire to be more than I ever thought I could be. I love passion I embrace it and follow it. That’s how I found you. “All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them” – Walt Disney ~Bryan

The Concept of Time for someone with ADHD

The Concept of Time for someone with ADHD

Is none existent! At least that’s the way it feels sometimes. As I wrote in my memoir about how adulthood snuck up on me, that’s how dates still seem to come along for me, they sneak up on me unbeknownst, like an alley cat on a mouse. But, the difference for me, compared to the mouse, is that when those dates come along, no matter how special they are, or should be, my mind takes them in as a matter of fact and moves on. Sometimes those dates pass me by without notice only for me to remember too late, which just makes me rage with dissatisfaction for myself. Of course, I am not sure if I do that with dentist appointments subconsciously on purpose or not (hrmm?). That probably deserves more consideration, but not right now, as I just don’t have the time for that. The reason for our […]

Is it ADHD or Boredom? R U just Bored?

Is it ADHD or Boredom? R U just Bored?

I was just reading an article in the main stream news system where a columnist was asking if it is really ADHD or just boredom. She basically goes on about how some people don’t have enough to do and those cooped up in a cubical are bored out of their minds with the job they have. She goes on to say that ADHD is used as an excuse. Okay, to the author’s credit she does indicate that ADHD is real, for a short sentence before going on about how folks are getting away with an excuse for boredom. Why is it that everyone thinks they are an expert about what a diagnosis is or isn’t? The doctor says it is ADHD and the other online ‘expert’, who doesn’t even know, or has met, all the people she is talking about, is going to say it is boredom? Which one is […]

Book Marketing for Authors of Related Books

Book Marketing for Authors of Related Books

How many books do you read a year? I read somewhere between 20 -30 and more than half usually have a close relationship in terms of what they are about. When I am trying to learn about something I can never seem to get enough information and sometimes there just doesn’t seem to be enough information in print. Hard to believe, but it’s true. Here’s the last string of books I read and thoroughly enjoyed. I want more of the same to continue this string: The Google Story – David A. Vise Good to Great – Jim Collins How Dell Does it – Steven Holzner Small is the new big – Seth Godin The Apple Way – Jeffrey L. Cruikshank Freakonomics – Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner DisneyWar – James B. Stewart Up Till Now – William Shatner I would not mind reading and actually would like to […]

ADHD is the Spiritual Universe? Why not!?

ADHD is the Spiritual Universe? Why not!?

I have a subscription to TUT Notes from the Universe, which is a daily email with a positive message about me. I enjoy starting my day with a positive message – who wouldn’t? Ah, the pessimist?! The messages are from the Universe. I know because they are signed “The Universe”. Hey, who am I to argue with the vastness of time and space? I don’t star on SG1 or Star Gate Atlantis (but I am a big fan), so I know that the Universe is really “The One”… didn’t you? Okay, now that I have enlightened you about the Universe, I want to share with you the message I received today, from him (maybe her?)!  In all seriousness, today’s message must have been deeply thought out and considered for me because I am an ADDer. The message seemed to be aiming specifically, directly and honestly at my ADHD nature. I […]
