Medication a cure for ADHD? And some not medicated suggestions for coping

Medication a cure for ADHD? And some not medicated suggestions for coping

I have talked to a lot of people lately who want results through medication. I don’t have anything against medication and I think medication can help certain individuals, but the more I talk to people who have taken medication the more I learn that mediation is all some seem to have, that all of their hopes are reliant on medication. Someone told me recently that they would be more excited about my book and blog if it talked more about medication and if I had used medication to successfully overcome my ADHD condition. Sorry, don’t want to disappoint anyone, medication does help some people and I am happy it does such, but for a great many of people medication has not helped them and they still seek the magic pill which will help them break through the foggy barrier of ADHD. You know, when you read about someone overcoming ADHD […]

ADHD is 24 hr reality and not just at 3 AM

ADHD is 24 hr reality and not just at 3 AM

I have been watching the announcements about how important a phone call is at 3 AM in the morning, but let’s not forget, most challenges can come at any time, day or night. ADHD is a 24 hr reality and the phone call usually will come during school hours or just after school during play time. Adults with ADHD often don’t even have someone to be called. ~Bryan

Pressure and Children

Today’s world, the speed and the necessities of it, has created a divide between parents, teachers and children. The divide has created a lot of pressure for our kids, and children who need a little extra help and understanding have more pressures than ever before. ~Bryan

ADD ADHD and positive thinking – the Gift and Blessing

ADD ADHD and positive thinking – the Gift and Blessing

I think it is very important that we learn to think positive and use positive thinking and visualizing positive results to cope with ADD ADHD.  I talk a lot about positive thinking and visualizing positive results here on my blog and thanks to years of therapy I have learned to do that. The point I want to make is that ADD ADHD causes a lot of devastation in many lives, the symptoms and traits have caused numerous struggles in my own life. Learning to cope with ADHD is a lifetime’s effort. There is no cure and there is no medication which will cure ADHD. I am not against medication because I believe it does help some people, but it does not help everyone. Some cannot afford the medication, so for them learning to cope is that much more critical. The point I would like to make is that with or […]

The Green Machine Lesson

The Green Machine Lesson

I learned a very valuable lesson in life at a very young age and it was thanks to a Christmas present: The Green Machine. Even today I still consider my Green Machine to be my most valuable Christmas present ever, not only because it was a lot of fun, but it showed me the harsh reality of how some people view and use friends, well, I use the term ‘friends’ loosely. As a kid I stayed pretty much to myself. I was not good at relating with others, so I usually stayed in my backyard building models of airplanes, usually out of two boards nailed together which kind of formed the body and wings of an airplane. (What are with us ADDers and airplanes anyway?) When I wasn’t building these constructions of airplanes I was out playing in the fields behind our house. I was 5 or 6 at […]

You Can Use Hyper-Focusing to Meditate

You Can Use Hyper-Focusing to Meditate

My Therapist, Dr. Gary, who you have, or will read about in my Memoir, pointed out to me another fantastic benefit of Hyper-Focusing and that is to use it to meditate and heal thy self. Since time has began we have been using meditation to self heal, but for a lot of people meditating is not a very easy thing to do and you would think that it would be even more difficult for people with ADD or ADHD, but that’s not always the case.

The Relevance of an ADD ADHD Memoir – What it is for you

The Relevance of an ADD ADHD Memoir – What it is for you

“”ADD ADHD is unique in that, the more one knows and learns about the disorder the better one can cope, overcome, and be successful. Learning as much as possible is imperative, especially for adult ADDers. Nearly every resource I have ever read concerning ADD and ADHD recommends learning as much as possible about the disorder.”” Doctors, parents, and therapists, and even teachers have given their input and all of such input is valuable, but strangely there are not very many books available written by ADDers for ADDers. Actually, my Memoir is one of the first, if not the first Memoir to be published about someone who grew up with undiagnosed ADD. The raw reality, the actual insider view of what it is like for someone with ADD to experience day to day life and yet not know he has ADD. To learn what went on inside the ADD mind which […]

Being around Big Names and Not Going Crazy GaGa – ADD Advantage?

Being around Big Names and Not Going Crazy GaGa – ADD Advantage?

I was pondering last night, as I often do, you know—ponder. Sometimes I daydream and that’s usually about something fantastical, farfetched things and lovely to fall asleep to. However, last night I was pondering. Pondering is when I am sincerely considering something, but haven’t yet made up my mind about whatever it is. Is it so, isn’t it so? I wonder, you know? That’s pondering to me. Ever since I was a young man I have been lucky enough to be in the presence of great people, famous people—people of stature. You know, those type of people that make us regular folk just go, well, gaga! I met a movie star when I was about 18 or 19 for the first time. Big name, everyone recognized him and everyone around me went gaga, for lack of a better term. I didn’t. While most everyone else was too busy with their […]
