Hi Everyone, I received an interesting comment today and thought I should make this disclaimer a bit more prominent and not just on the ADDER WORLD page:

Pace yourself!

Pace yourself!

Has anyone ever told you to pace yourself? Doesn’t that sound very odd to be telling someone with ADD or ADHD? Most of the time a person with ADD ADHD is more likely to hear derogatory lazy comments and be questioned as to why he or she is so slow or uninterested. BUT, and I have capitalized the ‘but’ part, when an Adder becomes interested in something STAND BACK!

Small is the new BIG! The perfectly Abstract Adder day in Frankfurt Germany!

Oct 2007 Hello everyone and welcome to Adder World, it is a fine Sunday morning and the sun is shining brightly outside—at least in this part of the world. Yesterday my wife and I had a unique and wonderful day in Frankfurt, Frankfurt Germany! We went to Frankfurt for a reason, a very special reason and I am going to tell you a little about that and I am going to tell you of a few things we discovered in Frankfurt which related perfectly to my Adder nature and how things just seemed to happen that I wanted to happen, but I wasn’t really thinking of happening—at least not in Frankfurt Germany. Ah, the Law of Attraction with Positive Thinking and the Power of Optimism does incredible things and it works. If you have been reading my Blog, then you know what I am talking about. This is going to […]

Sometimes it’s for our own good

Sometimes it’s for our own good

I knew I would have to get around to this article and I have tried to put it off as long as possible. This article is about doing things that others ask of us or rules we must follow: compliance, conformity and obeying. I tell you what, and I think (“I think”) I speak for all of us when I say; we Adders detest those 3 words! Okay, maybe detest is a strong word, but the emotions we feel when we must comply, conform and obey are strongly distasteful—they even have a nasty aftertaste that lasts for days! We Adders

Hyper focusing is the most profound advantage of ADD ADHD

Hyper focusing is the most profound advantage of ADD ADHD

In my last article I presented my thoughts on why we miss subtle human communication cues and promised to talk about why we are so wickedly intelligent, intuitive and just understand certain things in an astonishingly perceptive way.  I don’t claim to be a scientist or a doctor of any sort, but from experience and a bit of research the answers seem obvious to me: Our ability to hyper focus gives us a profound advantage over those without ADD ADHD…

Those with ADD ADHD miss subtle human communication cues

Those with ADD ADHD miss subtle human communication cues

We Adder’s are wickedly intelligent and able to perceive things that people without ADD ADHD have a very difficult time understanding, or rather, we tend to see things in a situation that are not yet clear to most people. As true as that is and as much of an advantage our perception and intuition is, we also have a disadvantage of missing the subtle human communication cues. I have an idea why that is and

Making friends and building relationships – Part 2

Making friends and building relationships – Part 2

Why can’t you just act normal? Why can’t you get your responsibilities in order? Why do you act out? Nobody likes you because you don’t care about anyone else! Nobody wants to be your friend because you are so selfish and standoffish! If you would just be a little more normal people would like you! If you would just show a little more initiative then you would be appreciated! Quit feeling sorry for yourself, everything is your own fault anyway! Take some responsibility for your actions!  Any of those statements and questions sounds familiar?

Making Friends and Building Relationships – Part 1

Making Friends and Building Relationships – Part 1

Finding friends, good friends and keeping friends can be a challenge for just about anyone and for Adders this challenge can be overwhelming and baffling—oftentimes depressing and demoralizing! I speak from an immense amount of experience growing up with undiagnosed ADD. In my first 20 or so years of life I had maybe 4 total friends and only two of those friends could be called ‘close friends’, or ‘real’ friends. I wanted friends, I enjoyed being around others, but I would always say or do something that would turn people off towards me and I just didn’t know what it was. I have learned some of the answers and there was one I could identify with above the rest.

Adder’s love to read

Ever wonder why Adders tend to be very intelligent people and know more than they should, considering ADD ADHD is a learning disorder? There is a misconception about Adders that we do not read or take in information very well. The truth of the matter is quite the opposite
