Finding, Falling and Staying in love

Finding, Falling and Staying in love

Finding, Falling and Staying in love A couple years ago I wrote a book about love: “Finding, falling and staying in love”. It has never been published and to be honest I have not attempted to have it published, but for some reason I was clicking through the folders on my hard drive and I came upon it the other day. I opened it up and started reading it for the first time in a couple years. I finished writing it in 2005, before I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. While reading it I realized something I had not considered before. The book is written from my ADDer perspective and it could be of service to my readers on Adder World.    The more I thought about it and the more I read it, I was overwhelmed with emotions and kind of choked myself up. Yeah, I know—pathetic right? […]

The ADD ADHD Dilemma: Time

The ADD ADHD Dilemma: Time

I received a very interesting email this week about someone who wants to accomplish something, but the things involved such as time and school are holding him back. Not only that, this wonderfully talented person has a gift for craftsmanship, but hasn’t seemed to find a way to make that pay off in the monetary form.  His email really hit home and clearly points out one of the Adder Dilemma’s. What really jumped out at me, more than anything else in this email, were the time lines involved. The writer is very concerned about the time it will take to accomplish certain tasks for school etc. He didn’t seem too worried about if he could pass a class or a course or even a test—it was the time involved that really seemed to be the issue. Time, for Adders, is a very serious dilemma, one that can paralyze an […]

The ADD ADHD Dilemma – Are you a Hustler? Care to wager on that in a game of billiards pool?

The ADD ADHD Dilemma – Are you a Hustler? Care to wager on that in a game of billiards pool?

Part of the ADD ADHD dilemma is that Adders can and do often appear to be hustlers. That’s right, we sure do and it can be a serious problem, a problem that we curse and at the same time are thankful to have. It’s good and it’s bad. It’s great and it is sad, to the point that sometimes we wish we could be more normal, more even, more well rounded and more steady, but our hustle can be addicting and no matter how much we hate it, we love it even more when it works in our favor! So, you might be wondering – what is our Hustle?

Part of the ADD ADHD dilemma or Bipolar?

Part of the ADD ADHD dilemma or Bipolar?

I have decided that once a week I will address the most interesting subject from your emails in a Blog Article and this week’s will deal with: is it ADD ADHD or Bipolar? In a recent email a reader asked me if ADHD can be misdiagnosed as Bipolar. The simple answer and the definite answer is, please, see a doctor—I am not a doctor.  I cannot answer that question; however, I can give you my personal opinion, but remember it is only another Adder’s opinion and nothing more than that. You must see a doctor for such inquiries. There are many tests and evaluations one must go through. I cannot, and clearly will not, give you any medical advice other than that you see a Doctor! –so there! However, I have this for you: ADD and ADHD present a lot of obstacles in one’s life, but one of the most […]

My personal musing about ADD ADHD part 2

My personal musing about ADD ADHD part 2

If you really examine the traits and characteristics of ADDers you will see that we share many of the traits of the people I mentioned from yesteryear in part 1. Those folks from yesteryear were very active, well trained, but trained in a more complete and direct one on one manner. The standards they had to comply with were very simple and yet highly effective and directed. They had structure, but in a manner suitable to their specific tasks and needs. They also followed their natural inherent traits. You probably would not have seen one of them become successful at running a stock exchange, but then you wouldn’t expect the stock broker to go out and skin a deer or paint the Mona Lisa. The creative side of yesteryear hunters, trappers, cowboys and others was

My personal musing about ADD ADHD part 1

My personal musing about ADD ADHD part 1

I am learning new things about ADD ADHD each and every day. In just the last couple years I have been relearning my reality and I have discovered one consistent thing about children and adults with ADD ADHD and that is we all have difficulty complying with order and structure. That seems obvious, but there’s more. I discovered that we are usually hyperactive, either in mind or in body or both. If I go even further with this I discover that most of our difficulties are within the educational system. There is still nothing revolutionary about that. I don’t mean to imply I have anything revolutionary to say in this particular article; however, what I have discovered is that there is not much information about ADD ADHD before the story Fidgety Philip by Heinrich Hoffmann back in 1848. Sure, there are several people we can identify by their nature that they […]

Those that are left behind ‘because’ of the nature of ADD: Attention Deficit Disorder

Those that are left behind ‘because’ of the nature of ADD: Attention Deficit Disorder

When I was growing up I was a quiet, well behaved kid. I stayed out of trouble and I stayed out of the way. If you visited one of my classes in grade school you might not have even noticed I was there. I sat in the back of the class, quiet, unassuming and out of trouble. In school, aside from actual academic performance, the most trouble I got into was when my name was called and I wasn’t paying attention to hear it. That was about it—I wasn’t a ball of fire and energy who needed constant supervision. I didn’t break things and I didn’t talk back. Aside from bad grades and not doing my chores, I was the perfect child, the preferred child—a child who was complemented by other parents for being so quiet and well behaved. At some point in my youth, maybe I was ten or […]

Shorter lives those with ADD ADHD and TIME

Shorter lives those with ADD ADHD and TIME

I was just thinking this morning about how quickly time passes and how the things I experienced a decade ago seem just like yesterday. And that got me thinking about how I perceive time and maybe other Adders have the same perception of time. This is a very, very deep thought and is a bit disturbing, so hold onto whatever you can if you’re going to read this article…

The reason I created Adder World was and is to help spread understanding and awareness of ADD ADHD. I speak from experiences I have had, what I have researched and the experiences others have shared with me. I do not claim to be a doctor or any other type of medical professional. If my experiences and what I have observed and therefore write about help bring awareness and inquiry to others, then I am achieving my said goal and hopefully more. You can help me! Read on if you really, really want to help…

I think the world is indeed waking up to the realities of ADD ADHD

I think the world is indeed waking up to the realities of ADD ADHD

I am an Adder – not a Pirate.  I have always been easily bored and therefore I have always been in the search mode of seeking stimulation. The search mode is great for learning and discovering and creating, but if you’re not an Adder it might be difficult for you to understand how it is that I can overcome my inability to pay attention to what schools have determined are necessary for learning or passing. Just because I did not seem to pay attention in school does not mean that I did not learn and just because I did not always pass the required classes, it does not mean I did not learn the lessons in the class, or at least some of the lessons, perhaps. Actually, what that really means is
