The first TV show from my childhood that I can remember is the Howdy Doody show. I remember it faintly and slightly fondly, but not much more than that. SPEED RACER on the other hand I can remember with great fondness and clarity. It was the ultimate show from my childhood! What Transformers was to the late 80’s and early 90’s children, Speed Racer had owned our minds previously and I suspect had the firmest grip on young Adder minds. Everything about Speed Racer was cool and he appealed to us because, although he was cool, he was still flawed. I guess you could call him the Spider Man / Peter Parker of race car drivers.

As a young boy I would frequently get lost. It was odd, because I would go far, far away and then in an instant I would be right back at home. I didn’t know how I did it, but I did and it was fascinating, it was wonderful and it was intoxicating to my little mind.
